Happy New Year
Saw the Polar plunge was noticeably missing in the pictures of the New Years Day festivities in Reston so I thought we better get out the invitations to come to Coeur D Alene for the swim in 2009. We will provide lodging for up to 10. Note some may need to bring a sleeping bag.
Well this New Years Day we did a 5 mile fun run at 9:30 Temp was 16 degrees with about 500 folks showing up for the 29th annual run. The run was followed by a plunge in the lake at 12:00. Not sure how many people ran and swam but there were about a 1,000 people for the 31st annual swim.
The air temp for the plunge was 19 and water Temp was 35 so it felt really good. Dennis, Keith, Mike V, Pete B, Russ and Jim N ( also Patty) this was right in your comfort zone and we sure missed you while splashing around.
The beach was a beautiful shade of white and the trees covered in snow and frost. Most folks just ran in and out of the water while a few of us took our time and made a couple of trips back in as it was so refreshing it took your breath away. After all this is a beach town.
Kim actually made it on one of the local TV stations as she was adding air to my raft. We blew it up in the car and when it hit the cold air the volume dropped considerably (ie. it went flat) requiring more air. One of the local churches provided hot chocolate.
