Reston Runners Volunteer of the Month
We are proud to recognize Maria Nusbaum
image missing
Always smiling, always ebullient Maria Nusbaum

Read about Maria's contributions to the club and learn some fun facts about the woman who can often be found cheerfully coaching runners, timing races, and welcoming new members to the club.

Please list the Reston Runners programs and/or events that you volunteer for.
I was member of the Board when Tom Voeller was president and then with Neil Knolle.
I participated once a week in the Embry Rucker Run for the homeless shelter in Reston for the duration of the program
I have been a coach for 12 or 13 years for the Women's Training Program--every Monday for 8 weeks, every year.
I have been very active on the Women's Distance Festival race committee for the same amount of time (12 or 13 years).
I helped John with the Reston Runners Boutique for the 6 years that we were in charge of the boutique.
I have been part of Finish Line/Timing Services since the beginning.

What do you like best about doing volunteer work for the club?
It's very rewarding. Like the Women's Training Program encouraging women to exercise; I love it!!! I read this chiasmus that says, "I do what I enjoy, and I enjoy what I do." That's me.

Please tell us an unusual fact about yourself or talent that you have that few people know about.
Unlike many of my friends in Reston Runners, I do not have ANY talents [Editor's Note: We heartily disagree], but I am very happy every day.

When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I am still small and I feel like a child ; )

We Need You!
Want to pitch in and help out the club, too? Reston Runners offers a variety of programs and activities you can volunteer for:
Course Marking
Gungadins (Water support)
Finish Line Services
Youth in Motion program
Women's Training Program
Women's Distance Festival
Stats and Chats reporter

In addition, we can always use your help for the Fall Into Winter race, the annual summer picnic and pool party, the annual dinner meeting, W&OD trail cleanup days, crewing and other tasks for the JFK50 race, and the periodic blood drives the club sponsors.
