Purpose The primary function of the Reston Runners electronic newsletter (eNews) is to inform, motivate, and educate its subscribing readers. By keeping subscribers informed on a variety of topics related to running and walking, their enthusiasm will be expanded and will give them ample reasons to participate in the various Club activities and volunteer opportunities. Thus, the eNews will provide announcements that are timely in nature, relevant to the Club, and relevant to the topics of running, walking, and fitness within the greater community.
The eNews is published in conjunction with postings available on the Reston Runners Web site ( www.restonrunners.org ) as a way to help maintain the flow of information and communication to Club members and eNews subscribers. The eNews can be looked at as an extension of the Reston Runners Web site designed to expedite Club communications concerning time sensitive, important topics.
The goal is for the eNews to be published (sent to subscribers electronically) each Thursday morning, with the understanding that the schedule may need to be adjusted slightly during certain weeks because of holidays or other scheduling conflicts. In those instances, the eNews Editor will ensure that the eNews is sent by the Club President or another available person with access to electronic distribution means. The eNews will also be used to facilitate notification of special events, safety alerts, or other important communications deemed appropriate for subscribers. These notifications will be sent on an as-needed basis and are not scheduled. The use of this form of the eNews will be determined by the Club President or Vice President and the eNews Editor.
Each publication of the eNews will be uniquely identified using an appropriate convention that provides for accurate searches. The identifier should include at least a year and month reference in a readable form.
Topic submission deadline is Wednesday 6 p.m. each week to ensure inclusion in that week's eNews. Send information to eNews editor . Submission of an item does not guarantee it will be published in the eNews. The Editor reserves the right to publish a submitted item at a later date.
The eNews Editor, Club President, and Board members reserve the right to edit and shorten text as necessary; they also reserve the right to refuse text in accordance with the General Publication Guidelines set forth below.
